Here's what to eat in June 🍒

Here's what's fresh and in season in June

June is a joyful month for plant foods! The weather is warm and we're finally creeping close to the official start of summer.

Today I’m sharing a roundup of plant-forward recipes with vegetables and fruits that are in-season in June. Not sure what’s in season in your area? Check out Seasonal Food Guide if you live in the US to seasonal foods in your region.

Arugula 🌱

Arugula season continues this month for many growing regions, with a peak around August and September.

Asparagus 💚

Asparagus season starts in March and ends this month in June in most areas. Get the last of this fresh crop in the early weeks of June before it gets too hot.

ASPARAGUS RECIPE #3 (quick pickle it to last longer)

Carrots 🥕

Carrots and their fresh greens are a favorite in June, and my carrot top recipes are always the most searched in June.

Cherries 🍒

Cherry season is short and runs from late May through July, depending on your location.

Stone fruit 🍑

Technically a group of fruits, but June is when we start to see stone fruits like peaches, apricots, plums, and more. My favorite time of year!

DID YOU KNOW? 🧐

The June full Moon got the name “Strawberry Moon” from a number of North American native tribes, since the wild strawberry (Fragaria virginiana) reaches peak ripeness and is ready for harvesting in June. The June 2024 full moon is Friday, June 21st and peak illumination time is 9:08pm ET. (source)
